Hello there! My name is Bethany Hoover and I am a student at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. I study Graphic Design and intend to get a BFA. My writing portfolio, like my design portfolio, encompasses my literary papers I have constructed. The ones linked here were written for RHET1312 Composition II. They all contain topics personal to me so that is something to keep in mind while reading through them. I chose my topics carefully and thoughtfully with the final result in mind. They are all argumentative papers that are expected to be persuasive as they address an issue and the sides of it. Linked above, you will see a Ceremonial Argument, Proposal Argument, Rhetorical Analysis, Causal Argument, and Rogerian Argument. My favorite out of the five would have to be my Ceremonial Argument. The subject isn’t very heavy and I feel it was my most successfully written piece. It is structured well and praises a personal sport without getting too personal. The ceremonial paper praises the sport of wrestling and everything it does for athletes. Rhetorical devices are evident in all five to strengthen the arguments.
Here is snippet from my Ceremonial Argument:
“Outside of the arena, the weekend consisted of lots of food trips, crazy hotel shenanigans, Xbox tournaments, and smelly athletes. However, inside the arena, the weekend consisted of a little bit more: passionate teammates and schools cheering each other on, pre match prayers, warm ups, blood, sweat, and a lot of tears, and at the end of the weekend, a state championship title.”
