Reflection
This paper was really fun to write. I chose a political ad which was a Ted Cruz ad with Duck Commander. I analyzed the rhetorical devices and appeals used. The ad was interesting and one that I had not previously seen before. With politics, there is always a bias, so that was one challenge with this paper. I had to carefully work through my thoughts to create a mostly balanced argument. I pointed out things such as fallacies, ethos, pathos, and logos. I looked at it from an unbiased standpoint and looked directly at the words being spoken and the method by which they were being spoken. The main points being addressed were main southern conservative beliefs that were very persuasive. They brought in Republican votes, but gave Democrats a reason to not vote. Ethos and pathos were very strong appeals used to grab viewers emotionally and morally. I addressed all of these things in my paper. I feel it was very clear and concise which makes it a successful persuasive paper. I organized it in a way that was easy to read and understand. Each paragraph had its own specific topic to address.
